Rory McIlroy has put his recent form revival down to Jordan Spieth's performance in winning his first US Masters title.

The world No.1 claimed his second PGA Tour title of the season when storming to victory in the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday.

It was a stunning display by the 26-year-old, who has already claimed four majors in his career to date.

The one he still needs to complete his collection is the Masters, but the Northern Irishman will have to wait until 2016 to try again after Spieth's scintillating display to earn a first Green Jacket.

And, after adding a second Quail Hollow triumph to the WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship title he won just a few weeks ago, McIlroy confessed that he has been spurred on to visit the winner's circle by the way Spieth played at Augusta.

"To win the Masters at 21 and to do it the way he did, it was a phenomenal performance. It definitely inspired me," he said.

"It inspired me to see Jordan do what he did at Augusta. It inspired me to have a little bit more edge and have a little bit more intensity.

"Since then, it's been nice to pick up a couple wins in my last three starts. I'm sure that will spur Jordan on as well."
