SPIRITED James Sarjeant has declared himself fit and raring to go as Glasgow Tigers get their Premier League campaign under way this weekend.

The Tigers reserve was signed off for five days with concussion after a nasty spill in the Peugeot Open last Sunday.

Sarjeant, 21, smashed into Berwick's Hynek Stichauer on the second bend at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, his head slamming against the ground, forcing his withdrawal from the meeting.

He was told to take some time out to rest, but having recovered from the crash, he'll take his place in the Tigers side to face Rye House Rockets on Sunday.

It's a major boost for Glasgow, with the Yorkshireman already having posted some big scores at the lower end of the team.

Sarjeant said: "I should definitely be there on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday I was tired all the time, but I'm getting better, and just doing more each day.

"I remember the crash. I missed the gate completely and Stichauer spun round 360 degrees in front of me. I tried the outside but just went straight into him and I must have hit my head on the ground. I couldn't lay it down or anything, it just happened that quickly."

Although he escaped relatively unharmed, his bike has had to undergo some remedial work for damage to its front end including the handle bars, front wheel and spokes.

However, Sarjeant insists his machinery will be back in shape for Sunday's meeting. And he says he's pleased with life so far as a Glasgow Tiger.

He added: "It's been good - I got eight, paid nine in my last meeting - so any more like that and I'll be happy.

"Everyone is good with the team, the manager, the directors - I've been getting on well with them all."

Sunday's match begins at 3pm.
