ALAN McMANUS kept up his fine run at the Shanghai Masters with a comfortable 5-1 win over fellow-Glaswegian Stephen Maguire.
The 43-year-old cue ace raced into a 4-0 lead before Maguire won the fifth frame with a 96.
But McManus, who beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the first round, took the next to seal his place in the quarter-final.
He was joined by 2006 world champion Graeme Dott, who beat Shaun Murphy 5-3.
The Larkhall-born player led 3-1 at the interval, helped by breaks of 98 and 66, and although Murphy cut the deficit with a 121, Dott wrapped up victory.
Local hero Ding Junhui delighted the Chinese crowd with a 5-3 win over Martin Gould.
His compatriot Zhao Xintong made the early running against Fergal O'Brien but the Irishman hit back to win 5-3.
Mark Selby, the "Jester from Leicester" was pushed hard by Michael Holt before getting the better of his Midlands rival 5-3.
Mark Allen's good form continued with a 5-1 win over Mark Williams, while Stuart Bingham beat Dominic Dale 5-1 and Michael White won the all-Welsh clash with Ryan Day 5-2.
