ANTHONY McGILL will return to the table in Glasgow today for the first time since his World Championship exit.

The Scot enjoyed a terrific Crucible debut as he beat countryman Stephen Maguire and reigning champion Mark Selby last week before eventually losing out to Shaun Murphy, writes Chris Jack.

McGill is now poised to return to action when he takes part in the PMK Invitational Pro-Am at Minnesota Fats this weekend.

The 24-year-old will join Maguire, Graeme Dott and John Higgins, who lost to Stuart Bingham and Ding Junhui respectively in Sheffield, as they compete against five of Scotland's top amateur potters.

The action will get underway this morning when Marcus Campbell faces Scott Gillespie before Michael Leslie takes on Craig MacGillivray.

In the afternoon session, Maguire and Dott will meet Scott MacFarlane and Ross Vallance before McGill and Higgins take to the table against Fraser Patrick and Peter Lines.

In the final session of the day, David McLellan will meet Matthew Stevens before Andrew Higginson faces Oliver Lines in the final last-16 clash.

The tournament will come to a conclusion tomorrow as the Scots stars bid for success on home soil after their respective Crucible early exits.

TENNIS: Andy Murray will have to wait until today to play his BMW Open quarter-final after rain called a halt to proceedings in Munich.

Murray will play Lukas Rosol in the last eight in the morning and if he wins that match he will play Roberto Bautista or Estrella Burgos in the semi-final later in the day.

The Scot is then scheduled to play the doubles semi-final alongside Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer.

Tournament organisers in Munich held out for as long as they could last night before abandoning play for the day.

Murray had on Thursday eased into the quarter-finals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over home qualifier Mischa Zverev.

GOLF: World No.1 Rory McIlroy will play in this summer's £3.25 million Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Gullane, which is hosting the event for the first time. The tournament runs from July 9-12.
