RICHARD Lawson plans to make it a season to remember - but says the key to his success is forgetting which superstar he's racing against.

The Allied Glasgow Tigers No 1 has started the season in scintillating form, heading home a crop of Grand Prix stars in his Elite League meetings with Lakeside.

Now he's ready to transfer that form to Premier League level and will bid this weekend to bag his first maximum in Tigers colours.

Standing in his way are Workington Comets on Saturday, and Edinburgh Monarchs on Sunday, led by their own Elite League star Craig Cook.

But Lawson insists he can win no matter who he's up against.

He said: "I just go into each meeting like any other - whether it's Elite League or Premier - and expect myself to win.

"Although it's a lot harder in the Elite League, everyone puts their helmet on in the same way, it's just some of the names are a bit bigger when you're in the Elite. At the end of the day, you're there to race, and that's how I'm looking at it now.

"I don't get fazed by any of the big names, I just get on with it.

"I'm really happy with my riding and my bikes are going well."

Lawson, 29, bagged 12 points for the Tigers at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium on Sunday to take his side a step closer to qualifying for the next round of the League Cup.

And the Cumbrian believes the team have every chance of getting one over their Scottish rivals - despite them coming to Glasgow in good form of their own.

He said: "We haven't done that many meetings but we're settling in, we have good riders and a good atmosphere in the pits.

"We're on the right track, we've just got to keep that going. Everybody's dialled in now and feels comfortable with each other and with the track, so we've got to really push on.

"This weekend will be one of the tougher weekends. At Workington, it would be nice to get a win there - that would stand us in good stead for the League Cup - and then we've got a tough home match against Edinburgh. Those are never easy. But we're all in form, so I'm sure we can pull it off."

Glasgow are currently top of their League Cup section on nine points, although Edinburgh could take their place with a win at Armadale on Friday night. Should the Monarchs and the Tigers avoid defeat before Sunday's clash at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, they'll go head-to-head while unbeaten.

In order to qualify for the semi-finals, the Tigers must finish top or be the best runners-up from the competition's three sections.

With Berwick and Workington - the other two teams in the group - currently having just one point between them, the winners look likely to come from Scotland, making Sunday's match the biggest of the season so far. Tapes up is 3pm.
