STEWART DICKSON has urged his Allied Glasgow Tigers to break their Armadale curse - by beating Edinburgh Monarchs on their home patch on Friday.

The Tigers can finish top of their League Cup section with victory in West Lothian.

A win there would be their first since August 2011, the last season that Glasgow won the Premier League, but Dickson is hopeful that the 2015 team can being that barren spell to an end.

He said: "I'm under no illusions - I know how difficult it's going to be. Yes, we've got six of our seven riders this time. But the target is to be competitive and give them a good match.

"The minimum requirement is a point. We know how formidable they are, but if we can make some starts and put them under pressure, who knows? Let's wait and see. Records are there to be broken."

The Tigers will be without James Sarjeant as he's on duty for Elite League Coventry, and they'll bring in the National League's Danny Phillips as a guest.

But top pair Richard Lawson and Nick Morris, who both missed the trip to Edinburgh a few weeks ago, will be back in the side.

The key man for Glasgow could be captain Aaron Summers - who not only is in good form, but spent his first three seasons in British speedway in the Monarchs' colours.

Dickson said: "Richard has been a bit hot and cold, which I know is annoying him. But anybody who had any doubts about Aaron Summers and that he couldn't race Ashfield - that's been firmly put to bed. I'm really pleased with him so far.

"We'll get out there, make some starts and hopefully give them something to think about. We are going to give it a real go.

"Really, I want a point, just to put it to bed. That would just about get us there. If we win at Armadale, we're top and it doesn't matter what happens elsewhere. There's still a bit to play for yet, that's for sure."

Glasgow's trip to Armadale comes just five days after they beat the Monarchs 51-42 at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium to send them top of the League Cup group.

The Tigers have no home match on Sunday, but will host the Peugeot Open - a showcase of up-and-coming stars of both the Premier and National Leagues.
