AS uninspired a selection as it may be, it is impossible to see past Taghrooda in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks, the feature event on day two of the Ebor meeting at York.

John Gosden's filly has proved to be the middle-distance star of the season and she will be out to extend her unbeaten record to five as she tackles this mile-and-a-half heat.

Her Oaks success was certainly impressive and while the placed runners may not be quite so good as first thought, Taghrooda demonstrated her class with victory in the King George at Ascot.

Taking on both the colts and the older horses for the first time, John Gosden and owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum took a brave path in Berkshire and their courage was rewarded as Taghrooda made full use of a handy pull in the weights to see off Telescope by three lengths.

Taghrooda could well have won by further that day as she pulled clear in the final strides, and off level weights with her contemporaries and getting a hefty chunk from the older fillies, it would be the surprise of the meeting if Taghrooda could not add a third Group One triumph.

Tiggy Wiggy had to settle for second behind Anthem Alexander at Royal Ascot but she can reverse the form in the Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes.

Richard Hannon has taken a bold approach with this Kodiac filly and she will be having her seventh start of the campaign as she lines up in this Group Two affair.

She arrives on the back of a six-length demolition job in the Super Sprint, with Tiggy Wiggy conceding weight all round yet still winning as she liked.

Her previous form gave her a clear chance, winning three of her five starts, with her only defeats coming at the hands of the reopposing Anthem Alexander and Patience Alexander.

That effort suggests this step up to six furlongs should be a plus and with Anthem Alexander shouldering a 3lb penalty, Tiggy Wiggy should have an excellent chance of avenging her defeat.
