GLASGOW Tigers bosses are targeting a repeat of the against-all-odds performance they produced against Rye House last month to put Newcastle out of the KO Cup this Sunday.

The speedway side beat the Rockets 48-41 on August 31 despite having just three of their regular riders and two National League guests.

Now, with a 16-point deficit to overturn to make the KO Cup semi-finals, another massive showing is needed from the Ashfield men - who will be back to full strength for the Diamonds' visit.

The match has been pushed back to a 5pm start with three of the Tigers returning overnight from continental competition.

Glasgow co-promoter Colin Hamilton said: "We've got to give it a go. The boys pulled together, the ones that were there against Rye House, and we're looking for everybody to pull together this week.

"Victor Palovaara goes to reserve, so we'll be looking for him to put some points on the board from reserve, and Kasper Lykke is going really well.

"Rusty Harrison will be back from his recent injuries, and with Theo Pijper doing well, we're certainly hoping that we can give them a good run for their money.

"The day before, Victor and Kasper are in Poland for this rearranged under-21 European final. And to give them an opportunity to get back, we asked Newcastle and they've agreed that the 5pm start is best.

"Tero Aarnio has also got a Finnish commitment on the Saturday, and it also gives him a chance to get back. Obviously we apologise to the fans for any inconvenience. But we want to get our riders there, and give us a chance to get into the next round."

ICE HOCKEY: Braehead Clan defenceman Chris Frank has been banned for four games after the Elite League reviewed a hit he made on Cardiff's Doug Clarkson in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss.

The Department of Player Safety has awarded a match penalty for checking to the head and neck.
