Glasgow golfer Marc Warren has admitted that the start of Thursday's Dubai Desert Classic can't come soon enough for him after he posted a second place finish in the Qatar Masters over the weekend.

The European's Tour's lucrative 'Desert Swing' reaches its climax this week and Warren is desperate to keep the momentum going following his runners-up placing.

The Scot was pipped to a fourth European crown by South Africa's Branden Grace, who picked up an eagle and a birdie over his last three holes to win by a single shot.

Warren, who finished with a 67, had suffered a blow to his title ambitions with a double-bogey on the eighth.

But the former World Cup winner stormed back with six birdies over his last 10 holes as he pushed Grace all the way to the finishing line.

Warren, whose victory in Denmark last season bridged a seven year title gap on the main Tour, said: "Over those last 10 holes, it was some of the best golf I've ever played to be honest. I started the event with a one under round then went seven-under, five-under and five-under so to put three rounds like that together on a course like this is very pleasing

"I wish Dubai started tomorrow after 10 holes like that. It's a second place but I haven't made any mistakes coming in. It was foot down and I was going forward. I was swinging well, I was going at flags and the putts were going in. It was a really exciting day."
