GLASGOW golfer Marc Warren last night ruled himself out of the reckoning for a Ryder Cup wild card despite claiming his first European Tour title for seven years.

Warren began his final round at the Made in Denmark event tied for the lead with Welshman Bradley Dredge but carded a 68 at Himmerland Golf Resort to win by two shots.

Dredge took second place after a 70. England's Phillip Archer was three shots back and home favourite Thomas Bjorn joint fourth with English pair Oliver Fisher and Eddie Pepperell.

Warren moved to 23rd in the European Ryder Cup points list but is not expecting a call from captain Paul McGinley, despite having won previously on the Centenary Course at Gleneagles, which hosts the biennial event at the end of September.

"I think that ship has sailed, I've left it a bit too late," Warren said. "But I have been delighted with my summer and I'm sure the team will be strong enough to get the job done without me."

Warren had suffered a number of near misses since the second of his Tour wins in the Johnnie Walker Championship in 2007.

Most notably he squandered a three-shot lead with four holes to play in the 2012 Scottish Open.

But the 33-year-old Scot kept his composure in Denmark.

"It feels incredible," Warren said. "I've been close to winning a couple of times in recent years but it didn't quite happen for me.

"This summer I have felt more confident than I've ever done.

"I felt great from the start. I stayed patient and didn't get aggressive with the putter like I did at the Scottish Open.

"I just told myself to commit to the shot and trust my swing, which I did right to the last hole."
