CHRIS CADDEN once twisted and shouted at Ibrox – this Saturday he wants to sing and dance again with a little help from his friends.

The Motherwell winger was a supporter when his club beat Rangers 3-0 in that Premiership play-off game from two years ago. This time he will be on the field trying to win a Scottish Cup tie.

There is an awful lot riding on this match, which could be sensational, and Cadden rather likes the idea of making the Motherwell fans sing their favourite Beatles song at the end of the match.

Cadden said: “I was there at Ibrox in the play-off and singing the loudest! Hopefully, it’ll be more of the same on Saturday.

“What I remember was Lee Erwin scoring first that night and, when the ball hit the back of the net, everybody paused for a second out of surprise – and then we celebrated.

“After that we went on to be the better team by far in both legs. I would take a repeat of that but they’ve strengthened their team since then.

“They’ve done well with their recruitment, bringing in good players, and they’ve signed two more in this window already.

“When going to Ibrox, there will always be a fear factor. You notice it when you go out for the warm-up because the crowd is bigger than what you’re normally used to and that can make you a bit nervous.

“However, once that whistle goes that all disappears and it becomes just another game and you have to work hard for your team.

“A Scottish Cup win over Rangers is long overdue for us. This could be the weekend.”

Cadden has been linked, with some accuracy, with a move to Rangers but he is quite happy to be getting on with playing for Motherwell – who just so happen to be the team he supporters.

He said: “You probably know more than I do about that. Speculation of that kind is always flattering but I don’t take any notice of it – I just get on with my job.

“I’m enjoying my football and I believe I’m progressing as a player. That’s why, when I was offered a new deal by the club in November, there was no doubt in my mind about signing it

“Playing first-team football for my hometown club is what I want and I love it at the moment.”

Motherwell are a decent bet for this game. They should have won the League Cup between these two earlier this season and with Louis Moult and Scott MacDonald in form and scoring goals, Rangers will have their work cut out.

Cadden, however, is not reading too much into the relative bad run of form by Saturday’s opposition.

He said: “Rangers are always going to be Rangers. They're a big club and it's going to be a tough place to go. It always is and it always will be.

“They're a good team, doing well in the season - they're above us in the table. We'll go and try and get something from the game.

"They do deserve respect because they're a big club but we'll try and get in about them, do what we're good at, which is matching up and getting in about them and trying to stop them playing.

"In any game you've got to take your chances - if you don't you're not going to win games. We'll be aiming to take them on Saturday because we got punished in the League Cup and hopefully we'll be able to take them this time.”
