FRASER Fyvie hopes to put one over his hometown heroes and his best pal in football when Hibs do battle against Aberdeen in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final on Saturday. The first semi-final of the weekend sees 24-year-old midfielder, a cup specialist who has both an FA Cup and Scottish Cup winners' medal in his collection with Wigan Athletic and Hibs respectively, come up against his former club for the first time since leaving Pittodrie for English football five years ago.

A boyhood Aberdeen fan who plans to attend the final whatever the result on Saturday, Fyvie would dearly love to participate in the showpiece match of the Scottish game for the second year running this May. First, though, he must disappoint much of his extended family by helping Championship winners Hibs get the better of Aberdeen in the semi-final, in a match which is likely to see him locked in a personal duel with his best pal, Ryan Jack, who has been linked with a Bosman move to Rangers this summer.

"I've not played against them since I've been away so I'm looking forward to it," said Fyvie, who was injured for the League Cup meeting between the teams last season. "Most of my family and a few of my mates will be in Aberdeen end. In fact, pretty much all my family will be in the Aberdeen end bar my mum and dad, who'll be in the Hibs end. My uncle did say 'I'm getting to a final either way', but I think he'd rather Aberdeen got there! I probably will be at the final either way too. But hopefully it is going to be us not them.

"I don't think he has said he is leaving has he?" said Fyvie, on the subject of Jack. "No, I spoke to him the other day and we have had a bit of banter between us. It will be a case of 'see you after the match'. I played alongside Ryan since I was seven years old," he added. "We came all the way through together and he is my best pal. He is the Aberdeen captain and that speaks for itself. He produces week-to-week, is one of the first names on the Aberdeen teamsheet and everything seems to go through him."
