As much as Celtic vs Rangers will grab the headlines this weekend, there is just as much to play for in the other semi-final when Aberdeen and Hibs clash at Hampden. And this match is just as evenly matched.

There was a time when this term when Aberdeen would have been big favourites, with their league form and the kind of football they were playing. Then there was that performance and result against Rangers.

Was that just a one-off, a bad day at the office? That’s what Derek McInnes will be intent on drilling in to his players. The league title challenge came unstuck a while ago, but, the Scottish Cup would certainly be a wonderful consolation prize.

Just two things. The Dons have an abysmal record at Hampden, truly one to forget.

And secondly, they are up against Hibs, straight off winning the Championship and are the current cup holders.

It took them long enough to win the cup, now, they are showing no sign of realising their grip.

Neil Lennon has done a fantastic job on both fronts this season, and he will have his players believing that this can again be their year.

Neither side, neither manager, has any reason to hold back in this one. I hope that is the case, because they are both great to watch offensively.

I just hope the fear of losing such a massive match doesn’t dominate.
