SCOTLAND'S dream of ending a 20-year World Cup exile ended in Ljubljana on Sunday.

A 2-2 draw against Slovenia in a must-win final day qualifier saw Gordon Strachan's side slip behind Slovakia into third place on goal difference. 

The Tartan Army are reeling from yet another failed qualification campaign as their absence from a major finals extends even further.

Strachan led his side to four wins and two draws in their last six games, keeping four clean sheets along the way, but ultimately the manager failed in his second successive qualification bid after not managing to reach Euro 2016. 

He declined to talk about his position after the game, but his future has been the cause of much debate among Scotland fans since the full-time whistle was blown.
