Hamilton Accies manager Martin Canning was irked at referee Andrew Dallas' decision to dismiss Darren Lyon yesterday afternoon, believing that it cost his side any chance of taking something from Celtic.

With the scores level at 1-1, Lyon was booked for a foul on Kieran Tierney and was then involved with the Celtic full-back minutes later as they wrestled off the ball.

Lyon seemed to use his arms to throw Tierney to the ground but Canning was upset at the decision to send off the player.

"I didn’t think it was a red card," he said. "I thought it was a really soft decision.

“I actually thought it was a foul for us…Kieran Tierney’s jumped in on Darren Lyon.

“There’s obviously a coming together and I think Darren pulls to get himself back into the game and Tierney away from him.

“I felt Tierney goes down a bit easily as well, throws himself a bit.

“For me it’s never a second yellow card. I think if anything the referee not going to make an iossue of it and let the game flow. You stop the game and speak to them both, you sat to Tierney aboyut jumping in and Darren about throwing him away.

“And you get on with the game.

“But to brandish a second yellow card for that is an extremely soft decision.

“There was nothing in the game and it was the same against Hibs. It was 1-1. You still know it’s going to be difficult, you’re playing against Celtic.

“With 11 on the pitch though you’ve still got a chance.

“But as soon as the ref makes that decision then it makes it really difficult to win the game or take something from it.

“I was proud of the players, I thought they worked extremely hard.

“They kept their discipline, they kept their shape and the goals we concede both halves are poor.

“The first cross of the half we concede and we’ve got three big centre halves. Leigh Griffiths is standing by himself and that’s a negative. But we can still take a lot of positives.”
