Parkin space filled as Saints sign Sam

ST MIRREN will today complete the signing of former St Johnstone striker Sam Parkin on a one-year deal.

SportTimes understands that the 31-year-old will pen the deal after parting company with Queen of the South after a six-month spell at Palmerston.

The hitman will be Danny Lennon's third signing of the close season after capturing ex-MK Dons striker Lewis Guy and former Cowdenbeath midfielder Jon Robertson.

The arrival of the powerful Parkin will restore the Saints boss' strike roster to a four-man quota following the departure of Nigel Hasselbaink, ironically, to St Johnstone, last week.

The former Chelsea kid, who once commanded a £340,000 fee when he signed for Luton in a move from Ipswich in 2006, will also take some of the burden off Saints veteran striker Stevie Thompson.

lMorton have completed their fifth summer signing with the capture of 20-year -old former Motherwell starlet Jordan Halsman.

lKilmarnock have announced that they will play Sheffield Wednesday in a testimonial for Rugby Park servant James Fowler on August 8.
