ALAN ARCHIBALD hopes Partick Thistle have turned the corner after emerging from their barren Premiership run in style on Saturday.

The Jags clinched a crucial three points with a 2-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice as they maintained their advantage over Ross County, St Mirren and Motherwell in the standings.

Thistle had won just once in their previous eleven outings as a poor run, which stretched back to the win over Inverness in December, saw them slide towards the top flight relegation zone.

Archibald's side head to Dingwall this weekend aiming to increase their seven point cushion and give themselves top flight breathing space.

And the Firhill boss hopes his squad will make the most of a confidence boost and long-awaited return to form.

Archibald said: "It has been well documented how bad the run has been but it is the first one like that we have had.

"At other times, we have picked up a draw or a win but we didn't do that during that spell.

"It was great to get a good result and a performance on Saturday, it was important that we got both.

"Both of those aspects haven't been good enough in recent weeks so it was great to put them together.

"A Monday is always different when you win a game, any player or manager will tell you that.

"It is a better place to come and work when you win and everything is a lot better.

"But it is just one win. We need to get back performing at a higher level on a regular basis and building on it.

"The boys were ok at times during the run, although after the Ross County game they were low because of the performance and the result.

"It was a long week but we worked on a few things and that paid off. We got a great reaction from them."
