CALLUM BOOTH hopes he can strike a deal to remain at Firhill beyond the end of the season.

The left-back has impressed since joining Partick Thistle in January and has become a key part of Alan Archibald's plans in recent months.

With his Jags loan deal and Hibernian contract both due to expire in just a couple of weeks, the 23-year-old's future is uncertain at present.

Boss Archibald is in the process of shaping his squad for another crack at the Premiership next time out and Booth is eager to sign on again with Thistle.

He said: "I am not too sure what will happen to be honest. I have enjoyed my time here so we will see what happens.

"It has been good here and I would be more than happy to stay here.

"I spoke to the manager at Hibs in January when I was coming here on loan and that was basically it, me and Hibs would be over.

"I left on good terms but that is the situation, I won't be going back there and nothing will be happening at Hibs.

"I want them to go up and hopefully I will be playing against them in the Premiership next season."

Since making the move along the M8 in January, Booth has made twelve appearances for Thistle as he has helped them to top flight safety.

The Jags round off their campaign with fixtures against relegation battlers Kilmarnock and Motherwell in the next fortnight as they look to end on a high note.

Thistle are guaranteed to be no lower than eighth this term after their 1-1 draw with Hamilton on Saturday.

And Booth insists there will be no easing off as the finishing line approaches for Archibald's side.

He said: "We were on a good run going into the game and had three wins-in-a-row so to concede late on from a set play and not win the game was a bit gutting.

"But we have got to look at the bigger picture and we are safe in the league secured of eighth place with two games to go.

"Now we can enjoy the last two games and try and finish the season on a high.

"The motivation is still there. As soon as you cross the line, you don't think about anything apart from winning the game.

"People outside might think that we will be taking our foot off the gas but we will be focused on winning the game.

"It was a bit stop-start for me at Hibs and I didn't start many games so it is nice to be here and playing games so hopefully I can play in the last two."

While Thistle can enjoy their final 180 minutes of Premiership action this term, the story will be somewhat different for their opponents in the coming days.

Killie and Motherwell head into the penultimate weekend of action deep in the play-off mire and aiming to consign Ross County to eleventh spot this term.

And Booth knows the Jags will need to be at the top of their game if they are to avoid an end of season slip-up.

He said: "Killie and Motherwell are the two teams that we need to play and they are going to be massive games.

"Killie will be coming here fired right up so we need to be the same if we are going to win the game.

"It is our last home game of the season and we want to sign off with a win in front of our own fans.

"We have been on a good run and we want to keep that up so we will be going into the match right up for it."
