FREDERIC FRANS has revealed former Rangers star Charlie Miller convinced him to swap Belgium for Glasgow.

The defender has put pen-to-paper on a short-term deal with Partick Thistle after impressing Jags boss Alan Archibald in training and a bounce game last week.

Frans will spend the next three months at Firhill as he bids to help the Jags climb the Premiership standings and catch the eye following his release from Lierse SK in the summer.

He could make his debut against Dundee United this weekend as Archibald's side look to record back-to-back top flight wins following victory over Motherwell last time out.

The 25-year-old was a team-mate of ex-Celtic striker Tony Watt last term, but it is another former Old Firm star who helped seal the deal.

Frans said: "Six years ago I played in Lierse with Charlie Miller and we kept in contact.

"I remember the first day I signed my first contract when I was 17.

"I was with my mum and that was the same day Charlie also signed his contract with Lierse.

"That's why we've got a special bond together.

"We were also good friends in Lierse so we've played plenty times together.

"I was a free agent this summer and I spoke to Charlie and his own agent John Viola and they helped me out to find a team for me.

"I didn't want to stay in Belgium, I wanted to go abroad - that's why I came to them and they helped me very well.

"He [Miller] said Scottish football would be perfect for me because of my height and strength. I'm good at heading the ball so he said I would be good here."
