THISTLE boss Alan Archibald concedes that confidence is the key for his Partick players after they got back to winning ways by beating Inverness.

Goals from Steven Lawless, Abdul Osman and Kallum Higginbotham gave the Jags their first Premiership victory since their opening-night defeat of Ross County.

Archibald's boys sparked to life at Firhill after Aaron Doran's 13th-minute opener for the visitors. And he is eager to use the success as a springboard for a sustained run of form.

The Partick manager said: "It was hard to go a goal down but we caused our own problems in the early stages. We didn't show enough belief to get on the ball and when our players did get possession they didn't have enough options.

"But once we scored the first goal it brought the belief out in the players and we looked like a different side.

"We are delighted to get a result like this against the team who were top of the league.

"We have to take confidence from this now and build on it.

"Next up for us is this Friday night's league match against St Mirren here at Firhill.

"Hopefully that will give us the chance to get another result and some consistency."
