The striker has become the latest Jags star to commit his future to the club and has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Firhill until May 2016.

Doolan said: "It was an easy decision for me to make to stay and extend my contract. I have been here a long time and I love the place.

"It is a great club. There are lots of positive things about playing for Thistle. The supporters are great and they atmosphere they generate is brilliant.

"I have got a good rapport with the fans and that is one of the biggest things for me."

The hitman was once again an integral part of Thistle's success last season, leading the scoring charts for Archibald's men as they retained their top-flight status.

And the 27-year-old is desperate to get back down to business as the Jags gear up for another Premiership campaign.

He explained: "I would have liked the season to have kept going, to be honest. I can't wait to get started again.

"At the end of the day, there is nothing better than getting back on the pitch for that first game and getting the season started again."
