GLASGOW has become home sweet home for Frederic Frans.

And the Belgian reckons Partick Thistle will reap the rewards of his love of the city.

Frans agreed a short-term deal at Firhill in October and has quickly made an impression in red and yellow.

He has kept clean sheets in his two Premiership outings against St Johnstone and St Mirren and given boss Alan Archibald a selection headache at the heart of his defensive line.

Frans almost clinched deals with Blackpool and Leeds during the summer following his departure from SK Lierse.

But it is in Scotland where the 25-year-old is making his mark after quickly settling into his new surroundings.

Frans said: "I am really enjoying it here. It is a nice club and I am very happy.

"My wife is here now and we have a flat in the city centre.

" The club is great, Glasgow is a nice city. If you are happy off the field then it will show on the pitch. I am really happy.

"I have played two games and kept two clean sheets so I have got to be pleased with that.

"The most important thing is winning for the team. We play and win as a team.

"As a defender, the main aim for you is to keep a clean sheet and help the team.

"I am pleased I have done that in the two games I have played.

"It has been a good start for me here and I am happy here."

Frans was given the nod to partner Dan Seaborne at centre-back for the Premiership clash with St Mirren a fortnight ago as Thistle clinched a much-needed top-flight triumph.

In his other outing against St Johnstone last month, it was Conrad Balatoni who lined up alongside the former Belgian youth internationalist.

The visit of Aberdeen on Sunday could give Frans another chance to show what he can do but he is taking nothing for granted as he bids to make it a hat-trick of shut-outs.

He said: "You always hope that you are in the team and all I can do is keep working hard.

"Just because I played last time doesn't mean I will be in the team again.

"I have to prove myself in every game and every day in training. I am working hard to make sure that I stay in the team.

"The international break has given me a chance to work with Dan and Conrad and the other players as well.

"I had a hard week and did some training by myself. I didn't have a lot of preparation this season. I needed a hard week.

"I feel really good now and I feel, especially with the fact that I am getting games, that I am getting better."

Victory over the Saints moved Thistle to within five points of a top six Premiership place.

The Dons clash will be a far tougher challenge for Archibald's side this weekend.

But it is one that Frans is relishing as he continues to make his mark in Scotland.

HE said: "Winning against St Mirren was a big step and it would be brilliant if we could win at home on Sunday.

"I think we are a good team and have a lot of potential. We haven't always got what we have deserved from the games.

"It was a big win against St Mirren and we are looking to progress from there.

"Scottish football is different to what I am used to but I am enjoying it. The game is very quick and physical but the standard is good.

"I think the game suits me. I am a strong guy and I like the physical part of the game.

"But that doesn't mean that I don't want to play football. I like to get the ball on the ground.

"That is the way Thistle like to play too and what the manager wants. So I am enjoying playing and being here."
