ONE man rightly took the plaudits for his display against Inverness last weekend.

Everyone knows what a talent Kallum Higginbotham is. He was a vital player for us last season.

We hope he will be even better this year and it is great to see him in such good form early on.

When people come to watch us, Higgy is one of the players everyone - the fans and the Press - talk about.

He plays the game in an exciting way and gets people on the edge of their seats.

That is one of the reasons that we brought him to the club, we knew he would fit into our style and would be the kind of player the fans would love.

He does a lot of things off the cuff and you never quite know what to expect from him in training or in a match.

But he is no different from anyone else. If he is not pulling his weight for the team he gets told. Likewise, if he does well, he gets praised.

I know he said after the win over Inverness that he didn't mind when opposition players give him a few hard challenges.

When you are as dangerous as he is and you have shown what you can do in this division, you are going to be a marked man and players will dish out a bit of rough treatment.

To his credit, he doesn't let it affect him most of the time, but he does need to keep his discipline in situations like that and not lash out.

It can be hard for players when you are on the end of tough tackling throughout the game, but you need to be the bigger man and keep doing what you do with the ball at your feet. That is the best way to answer them.

Higgy realises that he has to avoid picking up silly bookings here and there, but when you are on the pitch it is hard to not become involved in things in the heat of the moment. You just have to use your head in situations like that.

I am sure Higgy will do that and be a really important player for us going forward, starting with St Mirren tonight. It has not been a great start for Saints, but that doesn't mean we won't have to be at our best to get the three points.

We are only a few games into the season so there is plenty of time for them to turn it around, but we don't want that to start tonight.

From the reports we have had and what we've seen, they have done quite well in games but just can't seem to get a result.

Hopefully come the final whistle tonight they are still waiting to get their first points on the board.
