SCOTT FOX is determined to repay boss Alan Archibald for handing him back the Partick Thistle gloves this term.

After spending the second half of last season out of the side, Fox was given the No.1 jersey for the Premiership opener with Ross County, but saw red in the second game of the campaign at Dundee.

After serving his suspension, he returned to the team for the win over Inverness Caley Thistle last month and has been an ever-present for the Jags since.

It was a tough call for boss Archibald to make as Paul Gallacher was dropped to the bench once again, but Fox is eager to prove the big decision was the right one.

He said: "The gaffer showed confidence in me to put me back in so I hope I am repaying him with my performances.

"The main thing is the team wins games and does well and if I am part of it then that is great for me.

"Gall came in last year when I was injured and did well and I think he done well when he came in this season as well.

"The gaffer went for me again and hopefully I am showing that he has made the right call. I want to repay that faith he has shown in me.

"It is good for the team to have that competition, but I am pleased it is me that has got the nod and I am doing all I can to keep the jersey now."

Fox will get another chance to impress when Thistle host St Johnstone on Saturday aiming to get their Premiership campaign back on track after another disappointing defeat to Dundee United.

Archibald's side have failed to build on any of their four wins this term and the Firhill keeper knows that must change soon as they seek a much needed run of form.

Fox said: "It has been hard for us to win consecutive games in the last season-and-a-half and we know it is about putting results together.

"If you can string a few wins together then you will move up the league but we haven't been able to do that.

"It is just not happening for us, we don't score the goals or we concede at the end. When you are winning games and putting results together your confidence grows and things kick on.

"Lets hope it starts soon and we can move up, we don't want to be in the battle that nobody wants this season."

Boss Archibald will have to do without defender Dan Seaborne for the Saints clash on Saturday after he was sent off in the defeat at Tannadice last weekend.

But Fox has backed new signing Frederic Frans to make a push for a centre-half berth after penning a Firhill deal last week.

He said: "Dan has been really good for us this season but it is a chance for Freddie to come in and stake his claim now.

"He has only been training a few weeks so hopefully he is ready and he can perform if called upon.

"He is a really good defender and he likes to get the ball down as well, so he will suit the way we play.

"Hopefully he is up to speed in terms of his fitness and he can produce for us if selected."
