NATHAN ECCLESTON is determined to hit the goal trail and kick-start his career after agreeing a switch to Partick Thistle.

As reported in SportTimes yesterday, the striker underwent his medical and signed on the dotted line at Firhill to become the only capture of deadline day for boss Alan Archibald.

Eccleston joined Liverpool when he was just 15 and made his debut in a Carling Cup clash with Arsenal but never maintained a first team berth at Anfield as he went on to spend several seasons out on loan.

After being released by Blackpool earlier this summer, he has penned a one-year deal with Thistle to become Archibald's sixth signing of the window.

Eccleston could make his Jags debut against Inverness Caley Thistle after the international break and the forward is determined to shine in Scotland's top flight.

He said: "I am hoping I can bring goals to the team. I am going to work very hard and basically give them something that they have not got at the minute, I presume.

"That is why the manager is bringing me in, I am a different type of striker to what they have got at the minute.

"Hopefully I can bring goals. Anything positive I can bring to the team, I will be looking to do so.

"I think it is ideal for me and exactly what I need. I haven't exactly set the English leagues alight so far, so coming to Partick Thistle and the Scottish Premiership is just what I need for my career right now."
