DAN SEABORNE has suffered his fair share of bumps and bruises in football.

And the defender is determined Partick Thistle won't let a demolition derby defeat to Celtic knock them off their stride.

Alan Archibald's side return to Premiership duty against Hamilton today aiming to banish the memories of the 6-0 Parkhead loss.

It was a night to forget for the Jags as Celtic ran riot, but Seaborne insists they can bounce back this afternoon.

He said: "The way we lost the game and the goals was very disappointing, and we know we are better than that.

"The lads will have no problem going again and, in some respects, it might be a blessing in disguise because we can now focus on the league.

"It would have been nice to get into the semi-finals, but we have everything to play for in the league and we want to get it out of our system quickly.

"I have had plenty of bad results in my career. I have been beaten 6-1 at home and gone on to win the league.

"At Southampton, we lost when we were huge favourites, so losing is something that happens in the game and it is about how you bounce back. We will be in the right frame of mind and the lads will want to put it right."

Thistle head to New Douglas Park 12 points adrift of Alex Neil's side after a stunning start to the season for the top-flight newcomers.

A lack of consistency has plagued the Jags so far this term, but Seaborne knows they are more than a match for anyone on their day. He said: "Hamilton have had a great start and done really well, playing a good style of pressing football. The manager has them playing well, so it is going to be a tough game for us.

"But, on our day, we are a good side and are more than capable of beating them. It will be an interesting game and both teams will be looking to put right the results from their cup defeats."

Seaborne has been one of Thistle's most impressive performers this season following his summer move to Firhill.

And the 27-year-old has rediscovered his love of the game in Glasgow. He said: "I didn't enjoy football for a couple of years, but I am really enjoying it again here. It was a low on Wednesday but, overall, it has been a great move for me.

"I have got my best years ahead of me and, hopefully, I can help the lads here to a lot of success in the future."

Meanwhile, Thistle have appealed the red card shown to Stuart Bannigan during Wednesday's clash.

The midfielder was shown a straight red by referee Kevin Clancy for a first-half challenge on Hoops hat-trick hero John Guidetti.

Bannigan is now free to line up against Hamilton.
