PARTICK THISTLE have confirmed they will not offer fans a 'non Old Firm' season ticket for the new campaign.

The Jags revealed plans last week that will see home supporters moved from the Jackie Husband Stand for the visits of Celtic, and Rangers if they win promotion to the Premiership, next term.

The proposal could be worth around £250,000 to the club in extra ticket and hospitality revenue and provide a welcome boost to the budget available to manager Alan Archibald.

Thistle managing director Ian Maxwell told SportTimes on Saturday the Jags had little choice but to make the decision after seeing home gates fall by around 600 supporters during the current campaign.

Some fans had called for the club to sell a season book without any matches against their Glasgow rivals included but Thistle say this would 'essentially negate' the 'positive impact' on Archibald's playing budget that they hope to achieve.

And the Jags have urged fans to make their presence felt from the stands as preparations continue for a third-straight Premiership term.

A club statement said: "Season ticket information will be announced very shortly.

"We are working hard to improve the benefits with initiatives like the reciprocal agreements we've seen this season continuing.

"A season ticket already represents excellent value for money and we are happy to announce that season ticket holders next season will receive free entry into the second round of the league cup, should the game be at Firhill.

"We want Thistle fans to turn out and support the team no matter who the opposition are by getting behind the manager and players for every single one of our home games.

"The best way to support Thistle is to buy a season ticket and turn up to each and every match.

"We hope as many of you as possible do just that and help create a noisy and vibrant atmosphere from the North and Main Stands when the Old Firm clubs do visit Firhill."
