STEPHEN O'DONNELL reckons Partick Thistle's no fear approach will stand them in good stead against Celtic this week after they held second-placed Aberdeen on Saturday.

The Jags continued their impressive recent run with a well deserved point at Pittodrie to move another step towards retaining their Premiership status this term.

Alan Archibald's side head across Glasgow to face league leaders Celtic on Wednesday night and O'Donnell is eager to upset the odds once again after Aberdeen's title dreams suffered a major setback.

He said: "Aberdeen is a massive club with a huge budget but we went out there knowing that we didn't have anything to fear.

"Some might say that they had an off day but I think we stopped them from playing their best stuff and threw our bodies on the line to make sure we left with at least a point.

"That gives us great confidence going into the Celtic game and, if we play like we did today, there is no reason why we can't surprise a few more people."

The key to Thistle's improved run of form has been a rock solid defensive line, with the Jags recording their third successive clean sheet in the North East.

Archibald's side are now within touching distance of eighth-placed Kilmarnock and right-back O'Donnell is delighted with their new rearguard action.

"I think credit has to go to Scott Fox who has come in the last three games and done very well," he told ptfc.co.uk

"Having said that it is a group effort and the lads in the back four have done well to help him out.

"We're playing as a unit just now and it's great to be a part of. We've cut a lot of the mistakes out of our game and it's just a shame it has taken so long for us to do that."
