ABDUL OSMAN is confident Partick Thistle can put together a sustained run of form to move up the Premiership table.

The Jags have endured a frustrating start to the campaign as they have failed to build on encouraging wins against Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle.

The 3-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday leaves Thistle ninth in the table and they head into the clash with Motherwell this weekend in urgent need of a win.

The Jags have struggled to back up their impressive performances or wins and hit a prolonged run of form since returning to the top flight.

Osman said: "We know we are a good team and that, on our day, we can beat anyone in the league but it is about consistency and playing to our potential week in week out.

"There are no excuses for us, we need to look at ourselves and sort it.

"We haven't had a run of games where we have picked up results and haven't built any momentum so far this year.

"Once we do that, that momentum can carry you through. But we need to find that quickly.

"I had a similar situation at Crewe last year. We were playing well but not winning games.

"It is very frustrating but you have to keep working hard and the results will come for you.

"We just have to try to rectify this as soon as possible and get some wins."

Thistle have won three of their five home games so far this season, their Highland double being followed by a cup victory over St Mirren.

And Osman is determined to turn Firhill into a fortress after a poor home record last term.

He said: "It is a game we know we can get three points from. We are strong at home and it is a good opportunity for us to hopefully get back to winning ways.

"I heard a lot about last year and how we lost a lot of games late on and couldn't win at home.

"It is something we wanted to fix this season and we need to get a good run of form at home.

"You need to pick up as many points at home as possible if you are going to have a good season."
