I thought the boys were outstanding on Wednesday night against Hamilton and deserve all the plaudits they get for their performance.

To win 5-0 was really a terrific result for us.

We have always known that we are capable of doing that when everything clicked into place, so I was really pleased for the boys that they got a result like that. They were superb.

We came away from the St Johnstone game last weekend really disappointed with our 2-0 defeat. Our play should have been a lot better.

But we worked on a few things ahead of the Hamilton game and it worked in great fashion. The boys got the rewards for their hard graft.

We know we could be a few points better off in the table, but for us it is always about looking at the positives and there were plenty on Wednesday.

It was great to see Kris Doolan get his four goals, while some of our attacking play was excellent. But, without the ball, we were also superb. We worked hard, we closed space down and we defended really well.

We made a lot of good decisions, which was pleasing for myself and Alan Archibald because that is something we are always mentioning. Decision-making is vital as a footballer.

Dools got the plaudits for his goals, and rightly so, but Stevie Lawless was superb, Kallum Higginbotham was bright, Stevo was really clever. I could go through everyone and say how well they did.

To score five goals is great, but to keep a clean sheet was really important as well. I thought we looked solid all over the pitch and everyone played their part as a defensive unit.

Consistency has been our biggest downfall over the last two seasons, but when you get a result and performance like that is shows what we are capable of and we are desperate to go on a run now.

It has never really happened for us, but the mentality is there, as is the skill. We have the players to do it and hopefully now is our time to put a few results together.

It is a big game for us at Kilmarnock this afternoon and, if we can get the win, then that will be another step in the right direction.

We know we will have to be a lot better than our last trip to Rugby Park. We got beaten there earlier in the season and were really poor.

We never got started and Killie were the far better side. The boys know what to expect, and how to play on that pitch, so hopefully we will see a different performance.

Coming off the back of the Hamilton win, the boys have to be going into it full of confidence - and with another win in their sights.
