THE period over Christmas and New Year is always the most important part of the season for me.

When you pick up the points, it can be the difference between a relegation battle and getting into the top six. It is a massive stage of the campaign for us.

All the results went our way on Saturday but we are not looking at or worrying about other teams and what they are doing.

We just have to look after ourselves and the performance and result at Inverness last weekend was different class.

It was up there with the best performances we have had since we came in to the club.

Inverness are up there on merit but we stopped them playing and it was a complete performance away from home. With the ball we were excellent and without it I thought we were even better.

We closed them down and frustrated them, we kept our shape really well and when we got the ball we looked really dangerous.

There is nothing worse than losing a game of football and it is harder to take when you have got a long journey home to think about it. We have always done well on our travels up there thankfully.

We worked on things last week about how we were going to approach the game, like we do every week and for every team. The boys got it spot on on Saturday.

We have been desperate for a run of wins since we have come back to the top flight but it just hasn't happened for us. It has been stop-start.

Hopefully we can go on that run now, starting with a massive game against Dundee today.

They will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Hamilton last weekend.

Paul Hartley has done a great job there, they are a good team and have done well this season.

We know what to expect from them, it will be a tough game for us, but we have done our preparation and hopefully we can get another really important three points.

Paul has recruited really wisely and the players he brought into the club have all proven to be good additions.

They have got some players from the Championship and some guys that have been over the course and distance in the Premiership for the last couple of years.

That experience will help them. Guys like McPake, McGowan and Clarkson have played at this level and even though Gary Harkins will be suspended, he will still have an influence in the dressing room.

Paul has done a great job and got a really good squad of players but it is a game we are looking forward to and one we know we can win as we look to move up the table.

I think it has the makings of a really good game and a good one for the fans to watch.

Our home record is much improved this season and it would be great to give the supporters another win this afternoon as we look to hit a bit of form going into the New Year.
