ALAN ARCHIBALD reckons he has added another "quality" player to his squad after completing a deal to sign Frederic Frans until January.

The Belgian defender completed a short-term contract at Firhill after impressing in training with the Jags and a bounce game last week.

And he could make his debut when Thistle face Dundee United this weekend.

Frans, 25, has been capped at three youth levels for his country and was a team-mate of former Celtic striker Tony Watt at Lierse SK last season.

Firhill boss Archibald said: "It's great to get Freddie on board and it gives us some extra strength and depth in an area where we were probably still a bit light.

"He came in to train with us and spent about 10 days with the squad.

"He impressed in a behind-closed-doors game on Friday so hopefully he'll bring something a bit different to the squad.

"He has experience playing in Belgium's top flight so clearly comes with a bit of pedigree.

"I've said we are really looking for quality over quantity and Freddie definitely fits in with that."
