DAN SEABORNE admits Partick Thistle's pride is battered after they let themselves down against Ross County.

The Jags crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Firhill as their poor recent run of form was extended, and County claimed a huge three points at the foot of the Premiership.

Defeat to Jim McIntyre's side means Thistle are now just seven points clear of the Staggies after they leapfrogged St Mirren and Motherwell.

Lyle Taylor's second-half strike and a penalty save from Paul Gallacher were scant consolation for Thistle as goals from Craig Curran, Rafa De Vita and Marcus Fraser condemned them to a woeful loss.

Alan Archibald's side have won just once in their last eleven outings and stopper Seaborne knows their latest efforts were far from good enough.

He said: "Disappointed is worse than being angry. We wanted him (Archibald) to scream and shout, but he was just really disappointed.

"You don't like to see the man in charge disappointed. But we just didn't turn up. We weren't good enough and we let ourselves down. This is about pride because we should be doing better in all areas.

"It's one of those things, but we've got to get over it quickly because we have a few more tough games coming up. Obviously, it's a concern we weren't up for the battle because, as the manager said after the game, they're all going to be like that from now on in.

"First and foremost you need to win the battle every week and we didn't do that against Ross County. Credit to them and their manager because they've come here and done really well and they executed their game plan superbly. Fair play to them."

Thistle went into the Firhill clash knowing victory would take them a huge step closer to top-flight safety, but Archibald's side again failed to produce a performance.

A lack of cutting edge and a series of defensive lapses cost them dear as County hauled themselves off the foot of the table.

A tricky trip to Tannadice is next on the Jags' agenda, and Seaborne admits they must improve quickly after another big-match no-show.

He said: "To a man we were all over the place. We have set standards this season and they haven't been bad, but, after the first five minutes, they weren't good enough.

"We seem to do well against the decent sides, but lose out in the battles against the lower teams. It's something we've got to address quickly.

"First of all, we have to sit down and watch this game together. As players, you pretty much know what you've done well and what you haven't and it was more of the latter here.

"So we'll assess that and then everyone in the squad has the chance at training to prove they should be in the side at Tannadice on Saturday.

"We've just got to get our heads down and graft to get through this."
