ALAN ARCHIBALD could add another three players to his Partick Thistle squad before the transfer window slams shut tonight.

The Jags boss has made five signings so far this summer, but remains in the market as the club prepare to work right to the deadline in a bid to bring in more stars.

The first deal of the day is likely to be for striker Nathan Eccleston as he closes in on a move following his release from Blackpool at the end of last season.

Eccleston travelled to Glasgow last week and will have a medical today before putting pen to paper on a deal with Thistle.

The Jags boss has recruited defenders Daniel Seabourne, Ben Richards-Everton, Jake Carroll, midfielder Abdul Osman and forward Ryan Stevenson so far.

And SportTimes understands there could be up to two more arrivals as Thistle set their sights on a top-six finish this term, with a defensive player and another attacking option on Archibald's radar in the final hours of the window.

The Jags could also look to loan out some of their young stars, but as they are likely to move to clubs in the lower leagues, those deals do not have to be completed by the deadline tonight.

Archibald handed a debut to latest recruit Carroll on Saturday, but he could not prevent Thistle suffering their second successive SPFL Premiership loss as they went down 2-0 to Aberdeen.

It was to prove a frustrating afternoon for the Jags, who made the trip to Pittodrie determined to get back on track in the top flight following their late collapse against Hamilton Accies last weekend.

But second-half goals from Nicky Low and Niall McGinn were enough to see off Thistle, who suffered another injury blow when Conrad Balatoni was forced off with a hamstring strain.

Carroll came straight into the side just a day after completing his loan switch from Huddersfield, but it was to prove a disappointing debut for the left-back.

"Although the result wasn't great it was a good game to play in for the atmosphere and the experience," Carroll said. "It's disappointing to get beaten, but we have a couple of weeks now to build on it and get it right.

"It's not the best way to start my Thistle career, but they are a very good team.

"I think we could have played better but they were impressive today.

"Even having only known the rest of the guys for a couple of days I saw how disappointed everyone was and I know we'll be looking to build on it when we're back.

"I'm on loan at the moment, but I'm just looking to impress the manager and get as many games under my belt as possible.

"I'm looking forward to it so we'll just have to see how we go."
