PARTICK THISTLE have today welcomed applications for one of the most sought-after positions in football - becoming their terrifying, cult hero mascot Kingsley.

The club shot to global fame last summer after unveiling the disturbing new design of the character they have described as a 'mono-browed, dentist-deprived ray of sunshine.'

Budding applicants must submit a two-minute video explaining why they deserve to land the role and will be present at every Jags home game next season.Glasgow Times: Partick Thistle's new mascot Kingsley has caused a stir on Twitter (Jeff Holmes/PA Wire)

Partick Thistle managing director, Ian Maxwell, told the club website: “We’ve decided to turn to our fans to find our next Kingsley.

"We want to see passion, creative thinking and ideas that are a bit out there, just like the mascot should be.

“We have exciting plans for Kingsley next season that we hope will help keep the momentum around the club moving in the right direction.

"With that in mind it’s vital we have our mascot here to stand alongside not only our players but also our fans to carry on the momentum built over the past 12 months.

“I’m looking for somebody who is reliable and responsible, but who has no qualms about getting involved and keeping everyone cheering throughout all the home games, revving up the crowds on a Saturday and having a laugh with the fans.Glasgow Times: Ryan Stevenson joined team-mates Kris Doolan, Tomas Cerny, Dan Seaborne and mascot Kingsley to launch Partick Thistle's new home kit this week

“Kingsley is the face of the club and we can’t wait to find the right person to make sure he remains the centre of attention, not only at Partick Thistle but also within Scottish football as a whole.”

Applications will close on July 11, before the new Kingsley makes their debut during the Betfred Cup clash with Queen of the South on July 23 at Firhill.
