Dundee United midfielder Blair Spittal has emerged as a target for Partick Thistle upon expiry of his contract at Tannadice.
TimesSport understands that the 21-year-old is on a list of potential signings drawn up by Jags manager Alan Archibald as he looks to build upon the success of last season’s top-six finish.
The Firhill club will face stiff competition for his signature though, with at least two other Premiership clubs keen to land him.
Spittal made 40 appearances in all competitions for Ray McKinnon’s side last season, scoring five goals and assisting a further six as United fell short of earning promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.
He followed the likes of Barry Douglas, Andy Robertson and Aidan Connolly in moving from Queens Park to United in the summer of 2014, and had earlier been in the Rangers youth system.
But it is believed that United boss McKinnon won’t be offering Spittal a new deal at Tannadice, leaving him free to join another club without the need for any compensation to be paid.
