Evening Times readers have named voted Celtic captain Scott Brown as the player of the season so far in the Scottish Premiership.

We opened up a poll during the winter break to find out who had impressed our readers the most in the first half of the campaign.

And Scotland skipper Brown topped the ballot with 30 per cent of the votes after impressing with a number of commanding displays in the heart of Brendan Rodgers' midfield.

The 32-year-old has already made 35 appearances this season in all competitions, 19 of which came in the league as the Bhoys entered the break on top of the table with an eight-point lead over Aberdeen in second.

His teammate James Forrest came in second with 20 per cent after scoring seven goals in 20 Premiership games.

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was not far behind in third with 17 per cent of the ballot after the Colombian reached the top of the league scoring charts ahead of the break with 10 goals.
