THE SPFL has confirmed that Celtic will face Rangers on Sunday 29 April after the post-split Premiership fixtures were released on Wednesday.

Build-up to the announcement was dominated by a potential title decider between the two rival clubs on the first weekend after the split, but the high-profile showdown has been avoided in favour of a meeting a week later.

Brendan Rodgers' side instead have the chance to secure a seventh consecutive league championship against Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday 20 April in the first clash of the round.

The final Edinburgh Derby of the season will take place on Wednesday 9 May, while in the race for second Rangers face Aberdeen and Hibernian on 8 and 13 May respectively while the Dons take on the Hibees on Saturday 5 May.

In the bottom six, the clash between bottom two Partick Thistle and Ross County will take place on Friday 4 May at 7.45pm.

An SPFL spokesman said: “We want to thank supporters for the patience they have shown during the compilation of the post-split fixture schedule.

“Working with the 12 clubs, Police Scotland and our broadcast partners to produce a set of fixtures that meets everyone’s requirements can often be a complex and time-consuming process, but fans can now look forward to an exciting conclusion to the Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.”
