Ryan Jordan looks set to miss Petershill's Emirates Scottish Cup first-round tie against Glasgow Perthshire at Keppoch Park on Saturday.

The 27-year-old centre-back is still in consider-able discomfort after sustaining ankle ligament damage which forced him to sit out the second half of last weekend's 2-0 win over Irvine Meadow.

Jordan, with his ankle strapped, attempted to lead his side out after the interval only for him to pull up in agony.

It was felt immediate icing of the injury would aid his recovery but, following a lengthy session on the treatment table, he said: "The ankle is feeling a lot better, but it is still badly swollen and I'm struggling to put my full weight on it, let alone try to kick a ball.

"I desperately want to play and, thankfully, no decision will be made on my fitness until later in the week, but deep down I think it is looking a no-no."

The loss of another mainstay – Jordan Murch is suspended – is a huge blow to Peasy hopes even though co-gaffer Scott Smith made light of his selection woes. He said: "Not being able to call upon players of their quality is a kick in the teeth and I'm not going to pretend otherwise, but our squad isn't short of replacements.

"Stewart Maxwell came in for Murchy against the Medda and did an outstanding job, while Kenny Hadden looked as safe as houses at the heart of our defence after replacing Ryan.

"We've had Perthshire watched and are preparing ourselves for a tough tie, and nothing less than the same high work ethic that has helped serve up some top-class displays of late will suffice if we are to get a positive result."

Super Premier Division outfit Cumnock have more reason than most in wanting to deliver an Emirates victory when going to Crossgates Primrose.

Stevie Farrell and his players will be desperate to avoid putting a dampener on events 24 hours later when Kilmarnock visit Townhead Park to celebrate the famous old Ayrshire club's centenary (12noon).

Expected to be in attendance will be a host of former players from Nock's Scottish Cup-winning sides of 1979 and 1989, led by stalwart centre- back Bobby McCulloch, who played in both finals.

At Newlandsfield on Sunday, Pollok United Soccer Academy coaches take on a Dukla Pumpherston XI, whose line-up features Partick Thistle boss Jackie McNamara, Tommy Sheridan and Old Firm aces Frank McGar-vey, Simon Donnelly, Dougie Bell and Gary McSwegan (2pm).

All proceeds will go to the Academy Training Ground Project in Corker- hill.
