QUEEN'S PARK boss Gardner Speirs admits his side are lucky to still have a chance of progressing to the Second Division play-off final.

Queen's produced one of their most lacklustre displays of the season against their Third Division rivals as rampant Stranraer threatened to tear them apart in a 3-1 victory.

Speirs said: "The only good thing about last night is that we are still in the tie.

"Stranraer should have been out of sight but our keeper kept us in it with three great saves and Ricky's (Little) clearance could prove crucial.

"If we'd gone in 3-0 down at half-time it would have been difficult but we felt confident we could change the game and the goal gave us a lift."

Stranraer got their noses in front at Stair Park in the 17th minute through Sean Winter and Craig Malcolm doubled their lead five minutes later.

Tony Quinn bundled home a corner three minutes into the second half to reduce the deficit, but Winter restored a two-goal cushion for Stranraer to take to Hampden on 68 minutes.

Speirs added: "We won't play as badly on Saturday so we are still in the tie."
