RANGERS manager Ally McCoist hopes to see Dorin Goian back at Ibrox next season.

The Romanian flew out of Glasgow yesterday to secure a season-long loan deal at Italian Serie B side Spezia.

But the reason the stopper hasn't joined most of his team-mates in arranging permanent moves away from the Light Blues is that he has intimated he would be happy to return to the club if they are playing in a higher division.

Goian believes it would be impossible for him to continue playing international football if he was to spend the full campaign playing in the Third Division and therefore requested a switch back to Italian football after joining Rangers from Palermo.

With speculation surrounding league reconstruction taking place before the start of next season, it could be the case Rangers find themselves playing just one league below the SPL if the proposal to go with three bigger leagues is given the green light.

McCoist has been involved in detailed discussions with Goian and his representatives and parting has been on good terms with the door remaining open for him to return.

The Rangers manager said: "It's only a loan deal for one season and I would very much hope to have Dorin back with us next season.

"We are definitely planning on seeing him come back here next season and play for us again."

Meantime, McCoist is ready to offer 24-year-old Greek trialist Anestis Argyriou a deal.
