Rangers One by One

ALEXANDER (6) Alert and quick off his line after Cribari slept but left flailing after Argyriou put the ball beyond him when under pressure from Gary Wood.

FAURE (6) Only change from midweek team who were put out of the Ramsdens Cup. Had one header that looped over the bar.

PERRY (6) Doesn't look entirely commanding in that central defensive role. Would perhaps benefit from a more authoritative defensive partner.

CRIBARI (6) Outmuscled by Gary Wood in early exchanges and still looks somewhat unsettled. Keen to get forward at set-pieces and came close to netting late in the first half.

WALLACE (6) Up and down the flank all day and heavily involved in Rangers' attacking forays. Tried his luck with one set-piece that was tipped over the bar by Montrose keeper David Crawford.

ARGYRIOU (5) Nightmare of an afternoon. Hit his own post and went one better when he put the ball in the net to throw Montrose a lifeline. Tried to atone by finding the net at the other end but luck was not on his side.

BLACK (6) His usual busy self in the middle of the park as he broke up play and directed the ball forward. Replaced by Fran Sandaza in the second half.

MACLEOD (7) Given a more central role and got himself into advanced positions throughout. Scored his first senior goal for the club after collecting from Faure and sinking it into the net at a time when Rangers desperately needed it.

McKAY (7) Industrious and tricky and came close to getting on the scoresheet. Replaced in the second period.

SHIELS (7) Decent finish to open the scoring in the first half but didn't quite recapture the energy of his early performances for the Ibrox side.

McCULLOCH (6) Used his experience and physique to bring others into play but too often failed to get sufficient support. Netted the third as Rangers turned the screw in the second period.

SANDAZA (4) On for the last half-hour of the game but still looks to be lacking match fitness.

AIRD (4) Made his first-team debut when he arrived onto the scene, but little chance to do much.

CRAWFORD (5) On for the final 10 minutes and made an immediate impact when he netted Rangers' fourth.
