HIBERNIAN Head of Football Operations George Craig insisted his side's Petrofac Training Cup clash with Rangers will prove nothing in terms of the Championship race.

The tournament for clubs outside the top flight kicks off on the weekend of July 25 and Mark Warburton will begin his Gers career for real at Easter Road.

Craig said: "When you look at the date, it’s as close to pre-season as possible. It’s a one-off match and you can’t read too much into it – except the fact it’s a mouth-watering tie.

“Our last competitive match we played was against Rangers and now the next competitive match is against Rangers.

“But we’ve nothing to fear. Rangers will provide significant competition but we are not thinking it’s something we can’t do.

“There will be a change to Rangers. It’s a fresh start for them, there’s a new plan in place and there have been changes at the club. It will be different personnel."
