JIM HENRY is ready to help any new Rangers arrivals hit the ground running this summer as Mark Warburton’s side continue to be put through their paces.

The Light Blues returned to pre-season training last Saturday as Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan joined the squad for the first time.

Boss Warburton is keen to add to his ranks before the big kick-off and Head of Athletic Performance Henry is confident the summer signings will be fighting fit as quickly as possible.

He said: “That’s always a challenge. Sometimes you get boys coming in who haven’t been working with a football club, and you definitely find that can be a bit of a problem and they’re maybe trying to catch up.

“These lads sometimes get injured quite quickly, too, but we’ll work with the physio Stevie Walker, and he’ll be screening them to get his view of their mechanics to find out what work they can do with both us and the football coaches.

“If boys are coming to us and are not in tip-top condition, then we maybe try to hold them back a little bit, work with the coaches, and maybe try and introduce them to a little bit of football.

“That comes from the manager as well. He works very closely with us and gives us some feedback on what he wants, and that’s very important.”

Rangers had just four weeks between their Premiership play-off defeat to Motherwell and the return to Murray Park.

But Henry is pleased with how the Ibrox squad is looking.

“It is quite amazing just how good these boys come back,” he told rangers.co.uk

“They’re looking after themselves, and the big thing we’re looking at is the body fat and how that changes.

“If they’ve not been doing their programme, you see the accumulation of body fat.

“If they have, you find that their muscle mass and their weight will be the same, and that can push everything on quite quickly.”
