WES FODERINGHAM hopes his bust-up with former Celtic star Paolo di Canio will help him shine for Rangers this season.

The keeper hit the headlines for an extraordinary exchange with di Canio whilst the Italian was his boss at Swindon Town three years ago.

But he insists he has learned from his mistakes as he prepares to kick-start a new chapter in his career after agreeing a three-year deal with the Gers.

Foderingham was hooked just 21 minutes into a clash with Preston and became a YouTube hit as the pair had words on the touchline before he stormed back to the dressing room.

Now the 24-year-old is determined to show what he can do at Ibrox after becoming Mark Warburton’s third signing of the summer ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Foderingham said: “At the time, it’s tough to take. When you make a mistake, you are angry and the reaction probably comes more from the mistake.

“That would have been the first situation where I had been in that environment, I had made such a mistake and everyone was shouting at me.

“It was an accumulation of emotions and things happen. I’ve seen the You Tube clip too many times.

“It happens, it’s one of these things. I’m an emotional guy and I wouldn’t like to look back and say it was a mistake.

“It’s character building and these things help you develop your game.

“If you are not put into those situations, you don’t know how you are going to react to them.

“It’s better you get them out early in your career rather than later on.

“Rangers is a massive club and there will be a lot of spotlight and attention on me, so my past experiences will help me and stand me in good stead.”
