RANGERS boss Mark Warburton has refused to rule out a bid to land Scott Allan of Hibs this week.

Warburton, whose side lost 1-0 to Burnley in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox last night, has once again been linked with ex-Dundee United midfielder Allan.

The former Brentford boss has watched the 23-year-old in action for Alan Stubbs' side against both Berwick and Dunfermline this month.

The Glasgow-born player, who is out of contract with Hibs at the end of the season, is a boyhood Rangers fan and is believed to be keen on a move to Ibrox.

The Englishman declined to publicly discuss a player who is under contract with another club – but added he would “see what happens in the coming days”.

Rangers take on Hibs, who are expected to be their main rivals for the Ladbrokes Championship title in the 2015/16 campaign, in their first competitive fixture on Saturday.

They will play Stubbs' team in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup at Easter Road in an early kick-off on Saturday.

“Scott Allan is a Hibernian player and I think it’s really disrespectful for any manager to talk about another team’s player, if I’m honest with you,” said Warburton.

“So, from my point of view, we focus on what we have here and see what happens in the coming days.”
