DAVID TEMPLETON hopes he will reap the rewards of a regular run at Rangers under new boss Mark Warburton.

The winger has struggled to live up to his potential in recent seasons as he has struggled for form and often found himself well down the Ibrox pecking order.

But he has been given an early chance to shine by Warburton in the cup victories over Hibernian and Peterhead as Rangers have started the season in impressive fashion.

Templeton scored his first goal since the 3-0 win over Cowdenbeath last November as he opened the scoring against the Blue Toon on Sunday.

And the 26-year-old is determined to make the most of a clean slate under Warburton and assistant manager David Weir.

“I have not really played in the last two seasons and when I have I didn’t do well enough,” he told RangersTV.

“To now get a run of games and get a goal, it is a great confidence boost. Hopefully I can keep playing, keep scoring and keep myself in there.

“As a footballer, when you are not playing it is really tough.

“At the end of the season in the play-offs, I wasn’t involved at all in the squad so that was really difficult to take.

“Since the new manager has come in, it has had a fair chance and I am hopeful that I can take it and keep myself in the team.

“It definitely does make you feel a lot better when you are playing and you can enjoy your football.

“It has been good. It has been total football, working on different phases of play and different movements for different players.

“Davie has been working well with us as well, telling the wide men what he wants us to do and us giving him feedback in what we feel we could do better.”
