FORMER Rangers star Lewis Macleod is close to full fitness after a nightmare spell out of action.
The midfielder sustained a hamstring injury during the Light Blues’ Petrofac Training Cup defeat to Alloa in December.
Just weeks later, he was snapped up by new Gers boss Mark Warburton but never played for the Englishman before he left Brentford at the end of the campaign.
Macleod has yet to make his Bees debut as he has been left stuck on the sidelines for several months.
But Warburton’s successor, Marinus Dijkhuizen, is confident the Scotland Under-21 cap will be fit sooner rather than later as Macleod looks to finally make an impact south of the border.
Dijkhuizen said: "He's getting better, he's been training with the group.
"I hope he'll play with the under-21s in a week or two. He's looking good. He has a lot of qualities and he's on the way back."
