MARK WARBURTON insists the hard work will continue to improve Rangers as they look to kick on in the coming months.

The Light Blues are nine points clear at the top of the Championship after rounding off the first quarter of the campaign against Falkirk on Saturday with their ninth successive league win.

The free-flowing attacking plan put in place by Warburton has won rave reviews already this term as his side have turned in a series of impressive performances.

But the Ibrox boss insists there is more to his team than a gung-ho approach as they look to continue their winning run for as long as possible.

Warburton said: “That’s the frustration when people say it’s open all out attack, no hold barred.

“There’s a lot of work that goes into what we do and our pitch geography is really important to us, getting the shape right and we’re learning it.

“We came back here on June 27 and we’re three and a bit months into the project so we are still talking in analysis about position, who goes when the timing of the movement.

“There’s many aspects of how we want to play the game that we’re going to keep on working on. Right now we’re just three and a half months in.

“It’s how you apply it. You can’t be seen as open and vulnerable and having an Achilles heel, that can’t be the case at all.

“It’s about players being asked to take responsibility, the right players therefore have to be recruited to take that responsibility hence the (Rob) Kiernans and Waggys (Martyn Waghorn) and Andy Hallidays and the boys on loan. They have to be able to deal with the football and look after the football.”
