JASON HOLT is confident Rangers’ never-say-die attitude will stand them in good stead as they set their sights on the Championship title this term.

Mark Warburton’s side left it late on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Queen of the South and make it ten wins out of ten in the second tier.

After Derek Lyle had put the Doonhamers’ ahead at Ibrox, Holt pulled the Light Blues level with a neat finish early in the second half.

When Martyn Waghorn missed a penalty with just a couple of minutes remaining, it looked as though Rangers would drop points on league duty for the first time this season.

But there was late drama as Waghorn headed home a Nathan Oduwa cross to clinch another three points and keep Warburton’s side well clear in the Championship title race.

Queens equipped themselves well at Ibrox as they stifled Rangers’ attacking intent but former Hearts star Holt was delighted their efforts were rewarded in the end.

He said: "I think since the first game of the season teams will come here and try to frustrate us and it's down to us to do the right things. The most important thing is to be patient.

“They scored early and that just showed the patience we have got that we dug in and got the late winner. We can't get frustrated - we just need to keep going to the final whistle.

"We got that at Hearts too especially when we were at home. When we are at Ibrox teams will come and try and frustrate us, but it's down to us to try and break them down.

“So far we have done that and it's important we keep going to the final whistle.

"Since the first day I've come through the door the fans have been fantastic home and away and it's good to repay them and send them home happy.

“At the moment it's exciting and the fans can sense that too. We just want to send them home happy and we are doing that at the moment."

Rangers are nine points clear of second-placed Raith Rovers and eleven in front of Hibernian in the Championship standings after a superb start to the season.

And Holt is determined to maintain the momentum for as long as possible as Warburton’s side look to pull away at the top of the table.

He said: "We want to keep the run going, but it's one game at a time. The manager keeps making that point and we can't allow ourselves to look too far ahead. We can't allow ourselves to get complacent.

"Any game you don't win is not nice. We need to apply ourselves the right way and keep giving 100 per cent."
